JoAnn Zerwekh, EdD, RN, FNP, and Jo Carol Claborn, MS, RN, CNS established Nursing Education Consultants (NEC) in 1981 . Both are nursing educators and have extensive experience in nursing education. They have been presenting NCLEX Review courses for graduate nurses for over 25 years!  NEC is a nurse owned company whose primary goal is to support nursing graduates in their journey to success on the NCLEX. Not only do these nurse educators provide NCLEX Review Courses, they are also the authors for the NCLEX review books Illustrated Study Guide for NCLEX RN and Illustrated Study Guide for NCLEX PN . Both of the review books are published through Mosby Elsevier Publishing.

In addition to being the authors of the NCLEX Review books, Zerwekh and Claborn also publish the popular Memory Notebooks of Nursing. The Memory Notebooks of Nursing are a collection of images and mnemonics that provide a visual presentation of information that incorporates humor and imagery. The purpose of these books is to provide the nursing student of today with additional study resources that will assist them to retain critical nursing knowledge and promote successful completion of nursing school as well as successful completion of NCLEX.

Nursing Education Consultants also provides workshops to support nursing faculty in their preparation of the nursing graduate. In addition to workshops, NEC publishes The Memory Notebook of Nursing CD which provides nursing faculty with color images and mnemonics to enhance their classroom visual presentations.
